Sacrificial Prayers- In tribute and memory to all the African Americans lost at sea during the transatlantic slave trade, a segment of the global slave trade that transported between 10 million and 12 million enslaved Africans across the Atlantic Ocean to the Americas from the 16th to the 19th century. At the bottom of the painting near her hands is also the underwater memorial. At the ocean floor off the coast of Grenada stands the underwater sculpture of 26 children holding hands. Titled Vicissitudes , many have attributed the monument to those lost in the Atlantic Slave Trade, through sculptor Jason deCaires Taylor. This painting is a 40x30-inch oil painting and was hung in the Mayor's office in Pittsburgh PA for Black History Month in 2023. Artist: Irene Sparks Beanie Paints.
